Check out cool shoes at Ballet West

In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Ballets Russes, Ballet West invited local Utah artists to embellish the form of ballet pointe shoes with their artistic styles and visions.

All the shoes were asked to investigate the conceprt of "a Brave New World" in the Shoe-In exhibit.

Now you can wonder at ballet shoes in metal, stained glass, graffiti art, prickly quills, amethyst, wood and clay in the lobby of the Capitol Theater during the runs of Madame Butterfly and Gong (February 13-21) and Treasures of the Ballets Russses (March 27 - April 4).

Artists Trent Alvey, Christian Arial, Lenka Konopasek, CJ Lester, Shawn Porter, Margaret Willis, and Caleb Workman are featured in the show.

I went to see the shoes at the Capitol Theater lobby and they're AMAZING! I'm a big fan of Shawn Porter and Kali Mellus and it was just so exciting to see what they're up to nowadays. Oh! And James Christensen did a pair of shoes, too!
