Weber's Student Exhibit Opens Friday

We're completely shamefaced! SLmag has not given Weber State enough love for their arts and entertainment...or just about anything for that matter. So, it’s probably time to give them some credit.

Students up at WSU put over 40 hours of labor into creating a two and three-dimensional media, design, and video art exhibit w/ more than sixty works of art, all submitted by WSU students.

WSU's Department of Visual Arts Advisor Lydia Gravis says the photography pieces are exceptional this year, especially those entered as a series. "It reveals more into the thought process of the concept behind the work than sometimes a single piece would show."

The gallery is definitely worth the short jaunt from SLC, especially on the night of Feb. 5, the evening of the artists' reception and awards ceremony, which just so happens to coincide with the Ogden gallery stroll. Sounds like the perfect excuse to show Ogden some love without having to drop a dime.

Artists' reception and award show 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 5

A good portion of the art is also listed for sale, making it the perfect opportunity for any collectors or art enthusiasts to get their hands on pieces from some up-and-coming artists.

...If Van Gogh was born 135 years later, he probably would have gotten his start in college exhibits and student galleries, right?

About This Blog

Welcome to the Hive! Magazine staffers are generally inquisitive, talkative folk, and that's definitely true here at Salt Lake. Luckily for us, a lot of interesting, random or just plain curious stuff crosses our desks every day, and gives us plenty to gab about.

Here's a place for us to share the stuff that strikes us as funny, or just plain strikes us. We hope you'll join the conversation.
