More Twilight Concert Series Acts Revealed!

After some savvy investigative reporting—I sent an email to Salt Lake Arts Council dude and Twilight Concert Series grand poobah Casey Jarmen—I learned a few more headliners for this summer's series of Thursday night free shows at the Gallivan Center.

I'm super-stoked that Toots and the Maytals are playing Aug. 13; Toots Hibbert is a reggae legend who's been performing since before "reggae" music even had found its name; he's ska, he's soul and he's funk, too. I'm also pretty stoked to see hip-hop rhyme-master Q-Tip on board (Aug. 6), and if you've never seen Robert Randolph and his Family Band (Aug. 20), prepared to be blown away by some high-energy soul and pedal-steel guitar.

Here's the lineup so far:

July 9
Bon Iver
Jenny Lewis

July 16
Black Keys

July 23
M.Ward

July 30
Sonic Youth

August 6
Q-Tip
B.o.B.

August 13
Toots and the Maytals

August 20
TBA

August 27
Robert Randolph and the Family Band

About This Blog

Arts & Entertainment editor Dan Nailen spends many a late night on the town so that you don’t have to, but he will do his best to cajole you to join him for a meal, a martini or a Pabst Blue Ribbon. Whether he’s hitting a dive bar to hear a hot new band or playing with the pretty people at events far too classy to admit him if he didn’t work for Salt Lake magazine, you’ll read about it here.

Check in regularly for tips on worthwhile nocturnal activities, concert reviews and one-of-a-kind commentary from our resident pop culture-obsessed music geek and social gadfly.
