Review: Utah Opera's The Marriage of Figaro

I am far from a savvy and sophisticated opera fan. I'm a rock and roll guy who doesn't even like most so-called "rock operas." The Who's Tommy? No, thanks. Queensryche's Operation: Mindcrime? Okay, but don't tell anyone. I'll lose my hipster credentials. 

Thanks to my gig as the Arts Dude of Salt Lake magazine, though, I've been lucky enough to catch a few in the past year or so. Some were stellar (Madame Butterfly, Tosca), some I  didn't like nearly as much (Regina—English-language opera and I still have to read the subtitles? Ugh.)

The current Utah Opera production of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro holds much of what I've come...
