Delish Soter Vineyards (from the Wilamette Valley... well, sorta — it's about a half hour northwest of Salem, near McMinnville)... but oh do they make some double-good Pinot.

Wild Grape Wednesday eve will pour Soter's '07 Pinot (and yes, '07 is the year ...for real) for $9 a glass and $35 a bottle — we know the bottle price is about $10 higher than the new It price point (actually, erstwhile high-end buyers have pushed down their varietal budg. to the $10-$15 per bottle — especially bad news for Calif. growers who were hit hardest in '09).

We're not gonna quibble about the $35 on the Soter; in fact — just think of it as getting a $70 bottle for half-price (b/c we can't think of another Pinot more consistent right now). Buy one for your sweetie this year and bust out for Valentine's day ...2012.

Oh, the wine: No gimmicks here. Soter's Pinot is the classic full-on Oregon fruit assault ...they say earthy, but we say almost Cali Cab-big. Easy finish and (best part) doesn't crush you with alcohol especially in its younger years.

So, on second thought — pick up a bottle Wednesday and toast to one another on the 14th.
