Stopped in at Frida’s for lunch last week. Who's Frida? Amazingly, that's what Jorge Fiero says a lot of people want to know. Frida Kahlo of course, the famed unibrown artist married to Diego Rivera.

Who's Diego Rivera? Jorge says he will educate SLC about Diego and Frida even as he serves up wonderfully elegant Mexican food.

Because Frida is Jorge Fiero’s new restaurant, located in the same space as Rico’s Café was, that is, at Rico’s main kitchen.

We started out with shredded turkey with mole negro as an appetizer, served with blue corn tortillas; fish tacos; pork tamales were marred by a too-tomatoey sauce but the tamales—as we already know—are wonderful. The evening menu and full-scale opening are coming soon.

I can’t wait.
