Chow truck coming to a parking lot near you

Chow truck coming to a parking lot near you

ooooh, ooh.
I

f you didn't catch my tweet this weekend, I found the new Chow wagon Saturday in the place advertised and ate all over the menu.
The set-up is envy-inspiring cute coolness, like Mr. Toad's gypsy wagon or Lucy and Desi's long trailer. Shiny quilted stainless steel, taxi-yellow paint, sides that open into a working kiosk with shelves displaying candy bars, tea, soft drinks and a menu.

SuAn Chow, Mama Chow and Roseanne Ruiz were working the kitchen, music was playing and passers-by were eyeing more than buying.

They don't know what they missed. Here's what:
some of the best calamari I've had anywhere—chili-dusted and fried along with leaves of cilantro, with chipotle aioli for dipping,
sea-salted root vegetable chips,
soft corn tortillas filled with coconut lemon grass chicken, pineapple ginger pork, panko-fried tofu, and spicy beef.

In other words, we tried one of each—still not spending large, at $2.50 a pop. And they were all terrific.

I mean, I expected them to be good—Chow and Ruiz are pros. But the actuality of a flavor explosion is like fireworks—even though you it's coming, and you know it's going to be awesome, you still have to say, ooooh.

This week, the truck is going to be on the upper parking deck at Trolley Square. Luckily, the magazine offices are right across the street. So see you there.

You may question calamari from a truck in Utah, but if Rosanne Ruiz has anything to do with it, it will not only be quality, but tasty as well!

Yep. I had the calamari and it was quite tasty. Sandwiches are small but super good. Price is low so getting a couple is the way to go! Very happy.
