The most expensive burger contest ever

Lots to look forward to this month: Talisker opens its restaurant on Main Street, Park City, marking chef John Murcko’s return to the range. Fine Park City dining has been in a holding pattern for some time, so here's hoping Chef Murcko can stir up some real excitement. What I really wonder: will he have a burger on the menu?

I still have to eat at J&G Bistro up at St. Regis, and see whether the world-famous chef’s hamburger is as good as they say. I do think it’s “so Utah” that the Big Three resorts seem to be contending with each other on the basis of their burgers: Stein’s burger has ruled for some time; Spruce’s burger is gaining a following and now Jean-Georges’ burger is the star.

Yes, burger. At least that's what I hear. Kind of a limbo cuisine contest—how low can you go? I know resort restaurants must feed three squares a day to squares as well as gourmets, but the buzz about these high-end eateries seems kind of dumbed down. The question is, is it us or is it them that leads the charge straight to the middlebrow?

And, anyway, are any of them really that much better than In-N-Out’s decidedly lower-brow version?

I can make a 16 dollar burger at home for 2 dollars.

I'm sure it tastes like a $1 burger instead. You could never make a burger as good as using fresh local ingredients, local sustainable meet source. Expand your palate and try something other than Burger King.
