Reconsidering the Burger

Reconsidering the Burger

As a member of the Burger Bunch, I've eaten all kinds of burgers: perforated frozen burgers, $20 Angus burgers, good burgers, bad burgers and things claiming to be burgers.

I'm become accustomed to considering obsessively and passing judgement on every ingredient that makes up a burger. Is the bun flabby, fluffy or firm? Is the cheese Swiss, cheddar, American or ersatz? Which lettuce best suits a burger—romaine, butter or iceberg? And for godsake, what about the pickle?

Today I received news that Acme Burger Company, a restaurant specializing in all kinds of out-of-the bun burgers, is introducing its new winter menu. it includes a crispy five spice duck burger, a turkey burger with cranberry mostarda and an elk chopped steak with brandy cream sauce, truffled mashed potatoes and green beans.

But the item that confounded my imagination is the ultimate West-eats-East fusion: a cheeseburger spring roll. The Burger Bunch won't be back to Acme anytime soon, so if you try this global snack, I want to hear what you think about it.

After the overpriced food and terrible service I will not be back anytime soon either.
