Lodge also won two awards, for Best American Fine Dining and Best Wine List. Café Trio won the Readers’ Choice Award.

The awards ceremony was held at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts in the Marcia and John Price Museum Building at the University of Utah. It was preceded by a champagne reception catered by Cuisine Unlimited and supported by Nicholas & Co. and Young’s Market Co. In all, 35 Utah restaurants from all over the state took home awards.

Two restaurants were inducted in to the Utah Dining Hall of Fame, instituted at last year’s awards. Joining Red Iguana and Mazza, Log Haven and Cucina Toscana received the magazine’s highest accolade.

This year’s Community Award goes to Wasatch Community Gardens, now in its 20th year as a supporter of community agriculture.

Since 1997, Salt Lake magazine has honored the best restaurants in the state and the signature award plates are proudly displayed on the walls of winning restaurants.

Salt Lake magazine Dining Editor Mary Brown Malouf, along with food writer Virginia Rainey, certified wine specialist Joe Padilla and Nicholas & Co. marketing specialist Wendy Caron determined the winners last fall, after a period of intense discussion and heavy eating.

The awards ceremony featured films by the magazine’s web editor, Greg Thilmont, and Park City TV. Executive editor Jeremy Pugh and assistant editor Erin Bean served as hosts of the event.

Pugh said, “Now more than ever, we need to remind people that value and food doesn’t have to mean the Dollar Menu at Mickey Ds. The pleasures chef and restaurateurs provide at their tables are of great value, and it is our job at Salt Lake magazine to emphatically remind our readers that the food we consume should be judged on its quality rather than its price point.“

The March-April edition of Salt Lake magazine featuring the Dining Awards will hit newsstands March 1.

Finn's!!

No one has comments? Come on people... Here is my take. I like most of these places. I've eaten at all of them. But the list seems rather corporate to me. Not a whole lot of smaller chef owned places. Great to see Em's, Paris Bistro, Takashi and Hell's Backbone. I had breakfast twice at Left fork and thought it was OK the first time but the canned hollandaise complete with fake lemon flavor on my second visit will keep me from ever having a third. Finn's doesn't get the attention they deserve. Also, what has changed so much about Lugano that they could receive high honors one year and be left out in the cold the next?
