Toasters

Sometimes, you just want a sandwich. And almost always, you want it quickly. They line up for a Toasters at this little lunchtime hot spot, but the line moves as fast as McDonald’s, and the reward is so much more satisfying. The “toasters” title is code for panini style—most of the sandwiches are toasted enough to crisp the bread but not enough to meld the ingredients into a messy glob. A veg sandwich features swiss, provolone, cheddar, avocado, tomato, lettuce, cucumber and red bell pepper, with balsamic vinegar, mayo, and mustard—lots of flavor from lots of ingredients, each retaining its distinct taste. Other pluses: a few salads, breakfast sandwiches, Illy coffee, Mighty Leaf teas. And big cookies.
