Dining

Vinto

Vinto

The Wasatch front has more good pizza than it really deserves. But not more than it needs. Vinto, the latest wood-fired entry, sets itself apart with its Milanese-sophisticate style—yellow walls, curvy booths, and, hey, check out those light fixtures. But the most outstanding feature of dinner at Vinto is the food. You might think, “MORE wood-fired pizza? Really??” But this is, emphatically, not more of the same.

Pizza has splintered into a million distinctions over the last decade. But Vinto’s pizza is aiming for its own style—not by-the-book Neapolitan, not foldable New York, or deep-dish Chicago, or big-wad-o’cheese collegiate style. And it’s certainly not gimmicky, cheese-stuffed or cut-rate.

Vinto is going for a uniquely American approach to pizza—the crust is yeasty, crispy, chewy, sturdy but not heavy. Toppings are added with a judicious hand, in proportion to the crust.

Vinto also vaunts its piadini, thin dough wrapped around various fillings; we loved the one with grilled vegetables and fresh arugula. There’s a pasta of the day made with the same light, flavorful touch and a short list of desserts—gelato, sorbetto, molten chocolate, and the apple croustade—a marvel of caramelized simplicity.

Even more marvelous: Vinto is open SUNDAYS.

I totally agree with the article above. The restaurant had a fresh taste, meaning it wasn't the same old pizza. It was a fun environment for a night out for two, or with friends.

With a very modern setting, Vinto's Italian style gourment is pleasing to the pallet. Having tried quite a few things on the menu, I was not disappointed in anytihng and found myself very fond of some items that didn't sound great to me. Great price and great food.

Just kind of a snooze. Very nice on the interior, service was odd because they want to drop all your food at once. The goal here is to turn the tables as fast a possible. How do run out of your specialty dessert at 7:30??. The pizza is just okay, it is dry. Salads are inconsistant. Skip the appetizers. Waste of money. It is a 5.

Our first trip to Vinto was last week. We all really enjoyed the pizzia. Very good, highly recommend to everyone. Service was fast and friendly. We will definitely go back.
Way to enhance experience: provide 3 pasta options rather than just one.
