And so begins the last month of 2011. And of course that means holiday parties, Christmas Eve dinners, and yes, even preparation for New Year's Eve. The hard part, however, is the eternal dilemma of "what am I going to wear?"  While the little black dress is a go-to, it may seem a bit bland for such festive events. That's where sequins come in. There's no better time to rock the sequins than during the holidays, and the perfect pieces can be dressed up for a night out or down for an evening with the family.

So this season, get in on all that glitters with one (or all!) of these shimmery pieces from local designers and boutiques.

If you're not sure you're ready for full on sequin shine, try adding just a touch of sparkle with this classy gray and gold dress. Black tights and a sweater will dress it down, while a pair of gold heels will make it worthy of date night.

BCBGeneration jacquard one shoulder ruffle dress, Apt. 202 $158

For a bit of daytime sparkle, pair a crystal bauble necklace with your work attire. The crystals will add just a touch of glitz and catch the light adding some extra sparkle. Who says you can't feel festive and dressy at the office?

Classic Clear Crystal Necklace, Katie Waltman $78

This one is New Year's Eve worthy, but will last you all holiday season. Not just your typical sequin dress, the zig-zag pattern adds a bit of whimsy to the expected. Pair it with jeans and a blazer for a simple, chic lunch date or with black leggings and boots for a sassy girls night out. And its under $100!

BB Dakota Riana Sequin Dress, Cake Boutique $84

Still not sold on the super sparkly? You can still add at dash of luxe with a dazzled pair of shoes. Go understated with your outfit, think all black or even jeans and a tee. The shoes will overshadow anything you are wearing so don't over do it. Just prepare for everyone to be looking at your feet all night. Just don't take it personally.

Windsor Heels, The Honey Shoe $130
