You didn't think we'd skip out on giving you info on the best kid's events just because the kid-friendly blog isn't one of the above tabs...right? We'll keep posting them till we can't no more. Look for the blogs with "Kid-friendly:" in the header. The kids should be psyched this weekend. I am. Everything from a parade to sleeping under a dinosaur's belly.


Face Time

The best excuse to drive to West Valley this time of year-every year-is the Face of Utah exhibit at the Cultural Celebration Center. Utah's best sculptors display their work, and it's all for free. The exhibit runs through Sept. 26, and the opening reception is tonight.

(Hint: The Redwood Drive-in theatre is nearby, 3688 S. Redwood Road. See some statues then go see Dispicable Me with the top down)

How 'bout some gold bracelets?

SLC is screens Napoleon Dynamite at Wasatch Hollow Park. The movie is free and so is the popcorn. Show up at about 8 p.m. for the best seats and bring blankets to stay warm. The movie starts at 9 p.m.

(Hint: JTs Neighborhood Pizza and Grill, 1706 E. 1300 South, is literally 0.6 miles away. Get it to go to eat during the movie)

I'm a scary dinosaur!!!!

Take the kids for an overnight at Thanksgiving Point's Musuem of Ancient Life for Dinosnorzzz. Kids sleep under the belly of their favorite pre-historic reptile and tour the exhibits. Paleontology class, snacks included, breakfast and a Mammoth Screen movie viewing. $39 for kids and $29 for an accompanying adult.

Kiddie Parade

Kids celebrate the 24th early at the Days of '47 Youth Parade. The route starts at 600 E. and 500 South, runs west on 500 South to 200 East and ends at the City and County Building. Tons of floats and performing groups.

(Hint: Go to the SLC Main Library afterward, just down the street from the City and County Building, 210 E. 400 South, afterwards, and load your kids up on books)

Juggling at Trolley Square

The Wasatch Frong Jugglers meet at Trolley Square entrance near 600 South every Sunday to practice. Spend the afternoon watching the masters at work, and don't be afraid to join in.

(Hint: The Old Spaghetti Factory is also in Trolley. I know, it's a chain. But how often do the kids get to eat in an old trolley car?)
