Two related pieces of food news:

My friend Leslie, the Cheap Chick over at the Trib, blogged about how to get a can of Spaghettios for only 14 cents!!! based on Smith's weekend sale:

She says:

If you're planning on shopping at Smith's this weekend, don't forget that the grocery chain has a 10 item Mega Event. Purchase participating items in multiples of 10, and you'll get special pricing. (See the weekly ad and participating items here.)

Spaghettios are part of the promotion, at only 39 cents a can. Here's a way to get them for only 14 cents per can:

Buy four cans of Spaghettios at 39 cents per can, for a total of $1.56. Use two coupons, each worth 50 cents off two cans, from here. After coupons, you'll pay only 56 cents for four cans, or only 14 cents per can!

And Campbells announced the recall of Spaghettios.

They said:

THREE VARIETIES OF "SPAGHETTIOS" WITH MEATBALLS VOLUNTARILY RECALLED DUE TO POSSIBLE UNDER-PROCESSING CAMDEN, N.J. , June 17, 2010-Campbell Soup Company is voluntarily recalling three varieties of "SpaghettiOs" with Meatballs due to possible under-processing. The products subject to the recall are:

"SpaghettiOs" with Meatballs in 14.75-ounce cans; "SpaghettiOs" A to Z with Meatballs in 14.75-ounce cans; and "SpaghettiOs" Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars) in 14.75-ounce cans. Any of these products bearing a "Use By" date between June 2010 and December 2011 with the plant code EST4K are affected by this recall.

If you add these two bits of info together, you can come up with an even cheaper solution:

I say:

Save 14 cents a can and boil your own noodles.
