This could be the answer to my problem, the relief of my farmers market flustration.
I just received word that the Downtown Farmers Market, besides its 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. hours on Saturdays, is going to open on Tuesday evenings.
The Downtown Alliance tried this last year, and I suppose met with enough success that they're repeating the repeat.The extra hours can only help the farmers through Ratatouille Season-you know, when everyone has more zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes and basil than they can possibly use.
They're dubbing this the Harvest Market, because it starts at the peak of Utah's harvest-August-and goes through October, from 4 pm. until dusk.
And for the grouchy foodies among us-like me-several pet peeves will disappear. Like, I won't need coffee in the evening, so I won't be irked by thenon-dairy creamer. All the babies should be in bed so those double-wide strollers shouldn't be blocking up the path. And surely it's too much hassle to pack up Fido at the end of a workday and haul him/her downtown.
