It's a super-packed weekend for the kids, and luckily all our picks are things you'll enjoy, too. Broadway Across America is in Utah for the Lion King (check back for the review), and it's worth the trip to South Jordan for International Days on SoDa Row and The District.
FRIDAY
The World in South Jordan
South Jordan's International Days started on Tuesday night, but it looks like Friday is the right time to take Bangerter all the way down to The District or Daybreak's SoDa Row for Folklore Fun.
Rock-umentary
SLC Film Center shows Strange Powers: Stephin Merrit and the Magnetic Fields Friday night in Pioneer Park. It's part of the Film Center's collab with Salt Lake City Corp. and Downtown Alliance... and each time they show a movie, it's paired with a concert from a local band at 8 p.m. Free of charge.
ALL WEEKEND
Simba!
Our A&E Editor will see The Lion King tonight, so you can either see it with her or wait for the review and then see it. Either way, the Tony-award winner is making a huge buzz for the Capitol Theatre (shows Aug. 11-Sept. 26).
SUNDAY
The Knights who say...Knit
Blazing Needles started hosting afternoon retreats for aspiring master knitters on Sundays. On Aug. 15, Julie Weisenberger of CoCo Knits teaches working Western and Japanese patterns together. $20.
