For those of us lacking in a C-list Hollywood career and/or have two left feet there's still hope. The West Jordan Rotary is hosting a fundraising event, their own sort of Dancing With the Stars on Sept. 23 at "The Gathering Place" at Gardner Village. Proceeds from the event will go to U-SA Cares and Operation 61.
U-SA Cares for Life supports mothers and babies facing poverty, abandonment and HIV/AIDS in South Africa. Operation 61 is a non-profit organization committed to restoring local communities and individuals that have been plagued by addiction, debt, obesity, domestic violence and human trafficking.
The evening begins at 6:30, followed by a ballroom dance lesson from Todd Hansen of King Studios, food, drinks and a showcase of professional dancers. Both silent and live auctions will be held. Auction items up for grabs include a weeks stay at "The Yacht Club" in Providencia, Turks & Caicos as well as full lasic eye surgery, two nights at Meadowood Resort in Napa Valley, a 1-day Race Drivers School at Miller Motorsports Park, 2 season tckets to Hale Center Theater, and over 100 other spectacular items.
The dance floor opens from 9-10 p.m. so you can put your new dancin' skills to good use and Tonya Papanikolas from KSL will emcee.
Tickets:
$10 in advance/$11 at the door for single admission
$25 for a single admission w/ a dance lesson/$30 at the door
$35 for a couples admission w/ a dance lesson/$50 at the door
And in honor of our "I just wanna dance!" moments at SLmag, we've got two sets of couples tickets and a dance lesson we want to give YOU. How to win? Leave us a comment telling us which Utah celebrity you'd like to see on Dancing With the Stars! We'll pick a winner Wednesday afternoon, so get those dance shoes ready.
