Downtown Salt Lake holds a certain holiday charm.  For most of us we think about the lights at Temple Square or, when it still stood, the Christmas decorations at ZCMI mall.  But this year we have the Downtown Allliance to thank for a competition that has invited businesses downtown to decorate their  store fronts and windows. From November 26-December 25, the public is invited to vote on their favorite decorated store front and to be entered to win a prize worth $200 from the participating businesses.  The business with the most votes will be announced during the final week of December.  But other than just spreading holiday cheer, the businesses participating have the option to contribute to a $1500 donation to the Road Home,  an organization dedicated to helping Salt Lake's homeless.

Here are the businesses that are participating:

Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau - 90 South West Temple

Deseret Book Flagship Store - 45 West South Temple

Zions Bank - One South Main Street

Hope Gallery and Museum of Fine Art - 151 South Main Street

U.S. Bank - 170 South Main Street

Hamilton Partners - 222 South Main Street

Mid City Salon - 46 West Broadway

Retro Rose - 207 East Broadway

Especially for You - 209 East Broadway

Slowtrain Records - 221 East Broadway
