SLmag's two favorite youth acting groups, The Egyptian Theatre U of U Youth Theatre and The Children's Theatre, are accepting new talent for spring semester. So, if your kids have the acting bug, sign 'em up, because there's not much time left.

The Egyptian Theatre U of U Youth Theatre

The company's gearing up for their big show "The Box Car Children" this spring, following up "A Year with Frog and Toad" this past fall. The show follows four orphaned siblings who take up residence in a box car.

Auditions are at the end of January, but kids in class are more likely to have the skills to get a part. Classes run for kids in grades K-9, from beginners to advanced and run Jan. 24-April 25 (times vary).

The Children's Theatre

Don't hesitate on this one, sign the kids up right now. I mean...like now! Call them right now at 801-532-6000. Classes start on Jan. 4. It's already a little late, but you can still sign up for an extra fee of $15. Classes are regularly $70 per month-long course. This month's class is called Emotion and Imagination and focuses on making the audience feel a scene.

The theatre is also holding auditions for Cats and Little Women on Jan. 10 between 4:30-7:30 p.m. by appointment. Kids can audition for both plays, but may only be accepted for one since both plays rehearse at the same time.
