Yeah, we have three ways to really celebrate Earth Day 2011.
University of Utah Earth Fest
Browse booths from local food purveyors and sustainability-oriented organizations on the Union Plaza from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
ASUU Director of Sustainability Norah Olley and SLC Mayor Ralph Becker will lead a bike parade around campus from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.—be one of the first 100 to sign up for the ride and get a free bike lock. Oh, and it's also Bike to the U day for students and staff if, you know, you live close enough or have a TRAX stop nearby.
Alta's Earth Day Fair
Tons of free activities—adult green crafts and kids art, a recycled hat judging contest, job fair, vendors with plenty of free goods.
Also, take advantage of Alf's Restaurant's Earth Day sale when you buy a Cliff bar, Luna bar or Candy bar and get another one free. The Alta Ski Shop will donate five percent of its sales to Alta's local non-profits, and Alta Sports is donating free snowshoe rentals of the Snowshoe Tours.
My favorite, Watson Shelter will feature 100 percent grass-fed Utah beef in their BBQ beef sandwiches for $10.
A lot more is going on, too. Click here to see all of it.
