UPDATE: Here's the scoop on the Great Food Truckc Race, thanks to Ryan at slceats.com. I'm going to try to hit all of them today and tomorrow. Watch for Tweets!

Devilicious will be at RC Willey on Saturday from 11-3. So Cupcake and the Torta Truck will also be joining them.

The Lime Truck will be at the No More Homeless Pets adoption event both Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 7 pm. This will be at the PetSmart near 400 W 1850 South. I really, really hope they do well here because I spoke to Daniel, one of the owner, and recommended this event to them.

Roxy's Grilled Cheese will be at REI/Canyon Rim Center today from 11-7 pm. They will be at Coffee Connection Sunday from 11 to 8 pm. Mention Yelp and they'll add bacon to your meal for free. Bacon.

Chow Truck, Hodge Podge, and Korilla BBQ will be at the Canyon Rim Center (3150 E 3300 S) Saturday 11-7 pm.

On Saturday, the Cafe con Leche truck will be at the Rico Mexican Market, 800 S 500 E, from 11-2:30 pm, then on to Frida Bistro from 3-5 pm. Personally, I think this is a bad decision on the truck's part. They are going to two locations that have very little foot traffic other than the market's and the restaurant's guests, which won't be able to compete with the other trucks in the busier parts of town.

Seabirds, which is a vegan food truck, will be at Coffee Garden at 9th and 9th Saturday from 10-8 pm.

My weekend eating plans are still pending. The general idea is to hit every one of the food trucks that are in town for a segment of Food Network's "The Great Food Truck Race."

But I still don't know where all the trucks will be.

Trucks from all over the country participate in this made-for-TV competition. Starting on the west coast, a herd (bevy? flock?) of food trucks head for the opposite coast, with various stops along the way. At each stop, the truck with the lowest sales is eliminated. The rest continue and the last one standing wins $50,000.

I wonder if they have to pay for their gas and lodgings out of that...

The trucks left from their Las Vegas stop will be selling in various spots around Salt Lake City on Saturday and Sunday, April 30-May 1.

II saw the Lime Truck and Roxy's Grilled Cheese cruising up 400 South yesterday - Lime Truck (from Costa County, CA) will be at PetSmart for the No More Homeless Pets Event from noon until 7 pm both days. (389 W. 1830 South) Their specialty is "California beach cuisine," and to save you the trouble, I looked at their website to see what they think that phrase means. So, it's like, Spicy Hanger Steak Taco with Tocino Marinade/Serrano-Mint-Carrot Slaw and Cotija. Or Crispy Gnocchi with Marinara and Basil. And Ahi Tuna Poke with Macadamia Nuts/Mango-Passion Fruit Puree/Red Fresno/Fresh Chips. Got it?

I'm still not sure I could recognize this cuisine if it wasn't labeled, but it sounds tasty.

Roxy's Grilled Cheese is self-explanatory, thank goodness. The truck, from Boston, will be at Coffee Connection on Sunday - with circus performers and a DJ - from 10:30 am to 8 pm. (1588 S. State Street)

Devilicious, from San Diego, serves "food so good it's bad." Meaning, um, deep fried chili? Or, drunken duck on a truck.. velvet duck, habanero kimchee, agave mayo and crispy rice noodle in lettuce wrap, or butter poached lobster grilled cheese, lobster butter, mozzarella, caramelized onion, oven roasted roma with herbs on sourdough bread. Devilicious will be at RC Willey in SLC this Saturday (2301 S. 300 W.) from 11:00-2:00.

According to foodtrucktalk.com, another contender, Hodge Podge, from Cleveland, was put together specifically for this race. The post mentioned dishes like filet with mac and cheese, a killer all beef hot dog with purple slaw and barbecue sauce and some allegedly famous tater tots.

But I don't know yet where you can go try this - not all the truck locations have been posted. That's what I meant about sketchy weekend plans.

I guess this will be a scavenger hunt as well as a race - first you find the food, then you eat it. I'll try to get details and post them here, but both Salt Lake City food trucks, Chow Truck and Torta Truck, will be assisting visiting trucks.

So to get the final word on where the trucks will be, go to SuAn Chow's chowtruck.com and Julie Sheehan's tortatruck.com.
