A beautiful Emigration Canyon setting, a newly expanded outdoor seating area in back and, oh, those Mile High Biscuits - Ruth's Diner is a must-go for visitors or locals craving some serious comfort food for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It actually started in 1930 as a restaurant in an old trolley car, so it's one of the few on this list that can truly be called a diner. That space has doubled, and doubled again, until it's hard to see the original streetcar. And the menu has expanded, too, but happily, the not-so-traditional dishes are as good as the classics. For proof, sample the Pulled Pork Benedict some morning: poached eggs on green chile cheese cornbread with bbq pulled pork and hollandaise. Ruth's Chocolate Malt Pudding is a dessert worth the drive up the canyon by itself. 2100 Emigration Canyon, SLC, 801-582-5807. Click here for ABC 4's review of Ruth's Diner.
