Airborne Toxic Event plays In The Venue Wednesday, June 1

If you're a big fan of indie rock, your run of luck continues tonight in Salt Lake City. The only problem is you have so many fine options, good luck picking the best show.

Starting at The Urban Lounge at 10 p.m., San Francisco's The Dodos along with Austin, Texas' funky, cool White Denim play a gig at The Urban Lounge. Normally, that would mark a good night in and of itself. Tickets are $15 and available at

But also tonight, Los Angeles indie-rockers (and freedom anthem writers) Airborne Toxic Event will be at In the Venue. These guys were already gaining popularity before penning "Neda," an ode to a fallen female Iranian protester who died in 2009.

And over at Kilby Court, former Pedro the Lion lead singer David Bazan is touring behind his latest deeply personal collection of songs "Strange Negotiations." Opening up will be duo Cotton Jones. Tickets are $12 in advance and $14 if you get them at the door.

And if you're not feeling the indie-rock groove tonight but still want to do something, the excellent road show version of Les Misérables is over at the Capitol Theatre for a 7:30 p.m. show.
