We decided to kick this Kid-friendly off with info on fall camps at Tracy Aviary. They fill fast, so you register asap. Then you have your choice of Friday, Saturday or Monday night to see the Off Broadway Theatre’s newest—Forever Dead. And have a great time with the fam for free at UMFA’s Moon Festival this Saturday.
Register for fall camps at Tracy Aviary
One of the items we still get questions about all the time from our "What to do with a Bored Kid" feature is Tracy Aviary’s camps. Well, they’re not limited to summer. Enroll the kids for two camps on Oct. 20 and 21.
Eat, Screech and Be Scary, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 20 Kids learn all about the aviary’s scariest residents (vultures, owls and crows) up close and personal. $45 for members, $50 for non-members.
Sweet Tweets and Treats, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 21 Migratory birds are about to embark on their winter vacation to South America, but your kids can learn all about them before they go, what the journey is like and what celebrations await these exotic birds. The day will end with Tracy Aviary’s own Fall Festival for the kids. $45 for members, 450 for non-members
Tracy Aviary is located at 589 E. 1300 South, SLC
FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND MONDAY
Forever Dead at the Off Broadway Theatre, 7:30 p.m.
We put the Off Broadway Theatre in our Best of the Beehive issue as the best place for late-night family laughs, and we’re sticking to it. Their latest production, Forever Dead, is a spoof on Forever Plaid—except with Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein and the Mummy instead of the ‘50s singing group.
The Off Broadway Theatre is at 272 S. Main Street, SLC
Moon Festival, 1–4 p.m.
Take the fam to UMFA this Saturday for a treasure hunt, poetry readings, art activities, performances and, of course, moon cake tastings. Mmm… It’s all part of a 3,000-year tradition among Asian cultures during the autumnal equinox. And it’s FREE!
