Things in West Valley just got a little sweeter. Local bakery The Sweet Tooth Fairy has spread its sugary little wings with the opening of its eighth shop, located at the newly revamped Valley Fair Mall complex.

What started as a hobby from founder Megan Brown’s kitchen has expanded from the first shop, which opened in 2009, to include doors from Layton to St. George and just about every sizeable town in between.

Treats from cupcakes (strawberry shortcake, raspberry lemonade, toasted coconut and oodles more) to gooey brownies and cake bites to gluten-free macaroons line the bright white shelves in this homey and cozy shop. And, that Brown says, is key to making her confectionery boutique a go-to spot for locals.

“Our goal is to be a community bake shop,” she says. “We want to be that place that brightens the day.”

The Friday grand opening (that’s today, folks) runs from 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. Stop by and let the fairy satisfy your own sweet tooth, and enter to win a year's worth of cupcakes (a baker’s dozen a month).

Ladies, grab your gals on Saturday and swing by any of the eight locations for the local chain’s girls’ night out and toss your name into a raffle for one of several goodie baskets stocked with candies, cake bites, sweet-smelling body creams and kitchen tools so you can get your own bake on.

Heads up—more sugar is on the way. A ninth shop is slated to open in Murray soon. Visit The Sweet Tooth Fairyfor more info, including menus and Brown’s story.
