While the music calendar is starting to slow down - which is to be expected this time of year - there's one must-see option this week. Let's get to it.

And one of my favorite live acts will be at The Urban Lounge on Wednesday for a 10 p.m. concert. Why yes, I am excited. And if you like scintillating live rock 'n' roll, you should too. Having seen two of Deer Tick's three SLC appearances, I can attest to the fact these guys boast a can't-miss live show. And in addition to their energy and antics, they have strong songs spread across their five releases - including their epic debut, "War Elephant." Their new album, "Divine Providence," is also well worth hearing if you haven't run across it yet. Come on out Wednesday and see if you agree with me that DT's among the nation's best live bands. Tickets are on sale but going fast at 24tix.com

Here's Deer Tick playing "Easy" from their "Born On Flag Day" album. http://youtu.be/3M3pBhgYEcU

And don't forget the new play "(a man enters)" is at Salt Lake Acting Company through Dec. 4. The new script is written by Elaine Jarvik and Kate Jarvik Birch. Tickets are on sale for Wednesday's 7:30 p.m. showing right here.

An old-school metal show featuring Georgia's Mastodon rolls into The Depot on Tuesday night. This will be a raucous event and well worth the $25 ticket. Also Tuesday night, The Appleseed Cast, from Lawrence, Kan., will be at the Urban Lounge. Check out Appleseed's "Fishing the Sky." Tickets are $12 and are still available via 24tix.com

Also Wednesday, you can exorcise (and exercise) your Celtic angst with Gaelic Storm when they perform at The State Room. Tickets are still on sale for the 8 p.m. concert.
