Although you and your dinosaur-loving little boys are probably already in line at the newly opened Natural History Museum of Utah, we've got some photos here from last night's gala to celebrate the new museum on the block.

The gala, part fund-raiser, part celebration, part see-and-be-seen moment, was packed. I thought I was early as I made my way up Wakara Way to the new museum only to pull into a line of cars waiting to unload well-heeled and well-dressed passengers. The event allowed ticket holders a chance to float through the exhibits with a glass of wine and canapé or two. Every one of the museum's five floors was packed with celebrants. Here's a blurry look at last night via camera phone (and some previous images from a hard hat tour).

Oh yeah. The museum is now open for educational business at 301 Wakara Way (adjacent to the Red Butte Garden reception center) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (open until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays).
