World AIDS Day is this Thurs, Dec. 1, and will be followed by the Day Without Art, observed throughout the world to honor those lost to AIDS on Friday, Dec. 2. Salt Lake Gallery Stroll, Art Access/VSA Utah and the Utah Department of Health will join together in shrouding local artwork to raise AIDS awareness in the community. Among artwork to be symbolically shrouded will be DeWayne Sessions' Ruby Slippers in the Salt Lake City & County Building at 5:30 p.m., narrated by city council member Jill Remington-Love.
On Friday evening, the Gallery Stroll will observe the Day Without Art from 6-9 p.m., and participating galleries will each shroud a specific work of art. Take the time this holiday season to be part of a world-wide network of AIDS supporters and join the estimated 8,000 organizations that partake in World AIDS Awareness Day and the Day Without Art.
