The park naturalist will be leading a five-mile round trip, easy-moderate Full Moon Hike up Beacon Knob next Saturday night—the perfect way to find some peace and quiet this season. The trail is well-maintained and marked, and you will be sure to see some of the island's fascinating nocturnal wildlife, as well as beautifully moonlit views of the Great Salt Lake. The summit of Beacon Knob stands approximately 4,967 feet above sea level, and the hikers' destination will be 800 feet above the Great Salt Lake.
Antelope Island boasts more than 18 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, and the entrance fee is $9 per vehicle.
Those interested in the Full Moon Hike should meet at the Great Salt Lake Marina at 5 p.m. on Dec. 10; participants will then caravan to the trail head. For more information please contact the park naturalist at 801-721-9569, or click here.
