Here are a few non-holiday ways to pass the early week as Christmas party season hits full tilt for the next few weekends. Let's look at the best options.
Trampled By Turtles will be at The Depot on Tuesday night. The Minnesota bluegrassers have been regular visitors to Salt Lake City and have steadily built their audience as evidenced by this booking. They used to play to half-empty rooms at The Urban Lounge, now they're not. Part of that is the simple reason they write good songs. They're touring behind their 2010 record, "Palomino," which is the latest in a string of well-written releases. This will be a fun show. In fact, I expect it will be so fun I'm predicting Wednesday morning will be no fun at all. Tickets start at $16. Check out the Turtles playing "Victory,":
Bay area rapper The Grouch will be at The Urban Lounge on Tuesday night for a a show wit Eligh and Evidence. Music starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $18.
And starting Tuesday, the Blue Man Group will be at Kingsbury Hall for the first of a six-day run in what should be a well-received diversion from holiday stresses. Tickets start at $42. Check out BMG's "The Complex."
