Rumors are swirling again about Silver, the gorgeous and much-gossipped about restaurant that opened last year as Park City Main Street's new ornament–today, Ted Scheffler at City Weeklyreported the restaurant has been sold.
But if co-owner Lisa Barlow is singing the blues about Silver, she's gotta be happy about Vida, and I don't just mean life in general. The ultra-premium brand tequila, also owned by Barlow, was a winner this week in the 2011 TEQUILA.net ““Best of the Best” Awards.
Vida Tequila Reposados is 100% Agave Tequilana Weber, aged in American white oak barrels for six months. Of course this came from a press release, and of course, the press people included a recipe. Here it is:
1 oz VIDA Añejo
2 oz Kahlua
2-3 oz cream
1 oz Baileys Irish Cream
1/4 oz peppermint simple syrup
Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled and
cinnamon-sugar rimmed martini glass
Garnish with chocolate shavings and a peppermint stick
Peppermint Simple Syrup:
Brew one 10 oz cup of Peppermint Tea
Combine hot tea with an equal amount of
cane sugar (50-50 ratio) until all sugar is dissolved.
2 parts superfine sugar, 1 part cinnamon
Fine. Frankly, I would never make this cocktail.
But I do like to sip the anejo like a brandy, all by itself. And the Vida Silver is great in a winter margarita, made with red grapefruit juice and lime juice shaken with a jalapeno slice and strained into a glass.
