If you like jazz, soul and funky rock 'n' roll, it'll be stuff to stay at home this week. Let's look at the best options.
Rosie Ledet and the Zydeco Playboys will be at The State Room on Tuesday night. Almost any time zydeco rolls into town, you can bank on a good time. The Louisiana-based music is upbeat, funky and all about crowding the dance floor. This video clip gives you a good idea of what's in store.
Also, a terrific chance to see world-class jazz trumpeter Terence Blanchard is on Wednesday at the Jazz at the Capitol series resumes. Blanchard is best known for having worked with movie mogul Spike Lee on "Jungle Fever" and "Do The Right Thing," but broke into the jazz big time in the mid-80s by playing with legendary drummer Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
Also this week, don't forget the Jazz have home games on Monday and Wednesday as the Blazers and Clippers make appearances. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. for both contests and tickets are at smithstix.com.
