Katrina Fetzer of Ceago Biodynamic Wines comes by her biodynamic roots naturally. Her father's family's eponymous former winery was a pioneer of organic viticulture in California. Other Fetzers–John of Saracina and Danny at Jeriko–also follow the principles of anthroposophist Rudolf Steiner set forth in 1924.
The theory makes sense–the "holistic development and interrelationships of the soil, plants and animals as a self-sustaining system–" for example.
Some of the practices don't–stuffing the urinary bladders of red deer with yarrow flowers and burying them at certain phases of the moon–don't so much.
Taste for yourself. On Thursday, February 24, Faustina is hosting a four-course tasting dinner featuring Ceago Biodynamic Wines. katrina Fetzer will be there to discuss the wines and Chef Billy Sotelo will do the cooking.
