Utah loves native son Ryan Lowder, chef-owner of Copper Onion and Plum Alley. In the fairly short time since he returned to Utah, his restaurants have become regular gathering places and in the process, revitalized downtown way in advance of City Creek.

Now you can show your love: Every year, Food and Wine magazine selects the best new chefs from across the country and fetes them at the Aspen Food & Wine Classic. This year, Chef Lowder is a contender for the People's Choice in the Southwestern division. He's got some stiff competition, like the guys from Texas, whose restaurants I know well.
