SHERO.US recognizes role models who are building a better tomorrow for the woman of today and Maya Angelou definitely fits the profile.

That’s why we’re sending photographer Francie Aufdemorte to cover the free event honoring Angelou tonight at the University of Utah (scroll down for full time and location).

And if you’re there, you might just end up in Salt Lake magazine. We’ll post the photos on the website and save some for the printed magazine as well.

Unfortunately, Angelou—a world-renowned poet, novelist, filmmaker and civil rights activist— won’t be able to make it in person due to health reasons, but four inspirational keynote speaker will take the stage.

Speaker Lineup:

Bridget Cook, bestselling author, speaker and life coach on “High Profile Courage.”

Rene Johnson, The Power Zone Coach and Author on “Championing Domestic Violence.”

Becky Swanson, Mrs. Wasatch Front, on “Dealing with the Tragic Loss of A Child.”

Rebecca Musser, a former FLDS polygamist wife who has testified against the sect in Utah, Arizona and Texas. She was one of 65 wives of Rulon Jeffs and escaped the FLDS in 2002. She will speak on her experiences.
