National dance organization inFluxdance and Brolly Arts are hosting a fundraising event, The Orange Party, on April 28 at 8:30 p.m. in the SugarSpace, 616 Wilmington Ave., SLC.

There is a suggested donation of $15 for patrons who wear orange and a $20 suggested donation to take a peek at the inFluxdance's costume trunk. If you don’t own a little orange in your closet, they’ve got you covered. The dance company will provide a dress-up trunk to help people spruce up their costumes and add a bright touch to any ensemble.are invited to wear their most outrageous orange costumes while enjoying an evening filled with live music, delicious food and, of course, lots of dancing.

“We wanted to figure out a color that hadn’t already been done,” said Sofia Gorder, creative director for inFluxdance.

Gorder knew the color orange would infuse this event with a party atmosphere. “We really wanted to find a way to get people to dress up and engage in something silly,” she said.

Silly meets classy meets just plain exciting is the vibe for this event. With Vinto catering, DJ Birdman and several dance performances punctuating the event, it’s bound to be a night filled with entertainment.

“It'll be the crème de la creme of all the art forms,” said Gorder.

inFluxdance is no stranger to mixing art forms. Since its inception in 2001, this national organization has strived for interdisciplinary presentations, combining dance with everything from video to American Sign Language. The organization is raising money to continue its mission of using dance to accomplish social change.

From dealing with environmental problems to tackling gender identification, the inFluxdance takes its mission seriously. The Orange Party will include a presentation featuring inFluxdance’s work on environmental issues and plastic use.

But the folks at inFluxdance won’t let things get too serious for long. They promise a chance for everyone—from spectator to paid professional—to get up and dance. So put on your dancing shoes and head over to The Orange Party.
