The ninth bi-annual 2012 Brewers Association World Beer Cup just announced the winners. An elite international panel of suds sippers slogged their way through 3,921 beers in 95 beer style categories from 54 countries.
And our own Squatters was the only Utah brand to bring home awards this year, bringing their total World Beer Cup award count to 12, that is more awards than Sierra Nevada, Widmer, Pyramid, New Belgium, Full Sail and Deschutes to name a few very recognizable breweries.
Big Cottonwood won GOLD American Style Amber or Red Ale 68 entries (this was one of 11 categories this year that had more than 68 entries)
Vienna Lager won GOLD in Session Beer Category 33 entries (winning gold over Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.’s Kellerweis)
Fifth Element Vintage 2011 won BRONZE in Belgian Style Sour Category 27 entries (this category is typically dominated by Belgium breweries)
That calls for a round of applause and a round of beer. Cheers!
