A busy week is on tap as we all prepare for the big and wonderful Utah ArtsFest, one of the summer's real treats. In the meantime, the first part of the week has some decent options and a great band in need of your help.
Thankfully no one was injured during the June 9 fire at The Garage, however, the musical calendar of the summer is still a potential victim if the slated June 20 concert featuring the hard-rocking country band, Whitey Morgan and the 78s can't reschedule.
They sent a message via facebook.com on Sunday asking for help scheduling a house party gig in Salt Lake City, and as of early Monday don't appear to have an adequate option.
So ... let's make this happen, shall we? If you can help or know someone who can host a backyard jam, here's the email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
On Tuesday night, '90s funky metal rockers, Primus, headline a gig at the little-used Rail Events Center. Primus, led by crazier-than-thou bassist Les Claypool, is a force of nature and this should be a hard-rocking, sweaty blast. It's an "Evening With" show because SLC apparently wasn't worthy of seeing the mighty Fishbone as openers like other cities on this tour. Tickets start at $36 for the 7:30 p.m. show and are available at smithstix.com.
And finally Wednesday night, you can party like it's 1988 all over again as the hair-tastic triple bill of Def Leppard, Poison and Lita Ford hit USANA Ampitheatre. You can expect a night full of mullets, chain wallets and hits from the late '80s and early '90s. So, if you want to get some sugary "Unskinny Bop" poured on you, tickets are on sale at smithstix.com and start at $35.
