Ever hear the expression, "Don't count your chickens before they hatch"?
Well, at Wasatch Community Gardens, the chicks are fully feathered and it's officially Chicken Week!
From June 23 to June 30, the gardens will be hosting Chicken Week, which is filled with activities related to everything chicken-and-egg. In fact, you can learn even more about "eggriculture" at their workshops and their 7th annual Tour de Coops. On June 23 and June 30, urban chicken keepers will open up their coops to the public for a walking tour throughout the city. There will be a downtown tour and a south valley tour. Both of these tours are great chances to learn more about urban chicken keeping and are also fun activities for the whole family.
The gardens will host the 3rd Annual Early Bird Brunch at Squatters Pub on June 30. Brunch will be served at 9 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Be sure to register for this delicious morning meal of locally made breakfast burritos. It's a scrumptious way to start your tour of the coops.
On Wednesday, June 27, there will be a workshop on raising chickens, ducks, turkeys and other fine-feathered fowl. It will be held in the Grateful Tomato Garden from 6 to 8.
Don't chicken out on visiting the gardens during this exciting week. Sign up for your favorite activities right away!
