Produced by the award-winning Dark Horse Company, the story of Roxie Hart, a chorus girl who murders her unfaithful husband, manages to escape prison, and uses the trial to proper herself to showbiz hits Park City this summer.
And the sexy musical extravaganza that includes several show-stopping numbers, such as "All That Jazz" and "Razzle Dazzle," which is set in the Jazz-age Chicago actually starts tonight.
The original Broadway production of Chicago opened on On June 3, 1975, at the 46th Street Theatre and went on to have 963 perfomances, and now with Daniel Simmons, the Producing Artistic Director at Dark Horse Company Theatre, in charge, it will be a huge success in Park City, Utah.
We had the pleasure of talking to him, and just like us, he is excited for its opening at the Egyptian Theatre.
"I feel very excited and privileged to be bringing 'Chicago,' the killer musical to Utah. It is a unique opportunity to be doing this show right here and right now. We are one of the only companies in the country which is even able to get the rights to produce the show outside of Broadway and the National Broadway touring production. "Chicago" is a sizzling, red hot, sexy, even edgy, yet classical piece of American musical theatre," he says.
"It's perfect for Dark Horse Company Theatre, and with a company of incredibly talented musicians, actors, directors, designers and a dedicated hard working crew that we are becoming well known for, this production is already a huge success and you will be lucky to get a ticket. We wish the Egyptian had double or triple the seating capacity but you won't get that up-close, intimate experience of this show anywhere else."
