With more than 120 pounds of candy, Macy's at City Creek Center is starting the holiday season sweetly by restoring candy displays in the historic ZCMI windows, which were last seen in 2007. The ZCMI holiday windows hold a special place in the hearts of Utahns who made visiting them part their holiday traditions.

Sometimes dubbed the Superbowl of window displays, ZCMI windows are the stuff of legend.

This year's theme is "The Heart of the Holidays". A call went out to local artists to see who would get the honor of having their displays up for the City Creek shoppers to enjoy. Six were chosen last summer.

Two of the winning entrants were from Salt Lake Community College under the direction of Matt Monson, Visual Merchandising teacher at SLCC’s Fashion Institute at the Library Square. Another winner is Babs De Lay, a Salt Lake realtor whose Nutcracker themed display is sure to wow crowds. All of them took hours and hours of slaving away, hot glueing every sweet imaginable, from sugared lemon slices to candy crystals, onto the creations.

Below and above are images from past displays, which will give you and idea of what's to be unveiled this Thursday evening.

The display will be unveiled Thursday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m at City Creek Center. It is sure to be a hit with the young and the young at heart.
