Winter officially starts Dec. 21, and we can't think of a better way to celebrate the longest night of the year, than a light parade.

The Historic Park City Alliance illuminates Park City’s downtown Friday, Dec. 21 from 6 to 6:30 p.m. with a carnival of glittering cars, trucks, trolleys and other vehicles festooned with Christmas lights to roll along Park Avenue and Main Street.

The Electric Parade is looking for entrants, from motorcycles to golf carts, to participate this year. Entry is free and there are prizes for the best entries. Each winner will receive a Historic Park City Alliance gift certificate valid at any of the participating Alliance stores or restaurants. This year's parade judges include Stacy Dymalski, Leslie Thatcher, Debra Barfield Corrigan, Jonathan DeGray, Lori Harris and Jill Rathburn.

The parade will depart Main Street promptly at 6 pm and will proceed up Park Avenue to the top of Main Street, head down Swede Alley, across Heber Avenue, and down toward the finish on lower Main Street.

To register for the parade, email Alison Butz at by Dec. 20 at 5 p.m.
