A Canada goose is normally a large black and white bird that flies south for the winter. But for the Sundance Film Festival, Canada Goose is an internationally-recognized Canadian clothing company that flew South to sponsor the festival's outerwear.

The Burnett Jacket from the Fall/Winter 2012 collection was chosen to keep more than 300 filmmakers and jury members warm. As you wander around Sundance, keep your eyes open for the black and white color scheme of this unique jacket with the Sundance logo on the arm band.

Kevin Spreekmeester, vice president of global marketing for Canada Goose, described the company's relationship with the film industry and their clothing line.

How did Canada Goose first get involved with the film industry?

"Our parkas have been the must-have gear on film sets anywhere it’s cold for more than 20 years now and are known in the entertainment industry as the 'unofficial' jacket of film crews. Because of the high-quality craftsmanship, premium materials and functionality in each jacket, crew members rely on our jackets as their protection for surviving long shoots in the most demanding environments. In recent years, our jackets have also made their way on-camera in films such as Captain America, National Treasure, The Grey, Mr. Popper’s Penguins, Whiteout, Eight Below and Battleship, as a way to help authenticate movies set in cold weather."

What inspired Canada Goose to become the outerwear sponsor of the Sundance Film Festival?

"We’ve had a long and natural relationship with the film industry, starting behind the camera. Then as our jackets started to appear on-screen, we wanted to ensure that movie-goers and consumers overall knew that this has been the result of an authentic and organic partnership, not a result of product placement, and that fit really well with the spirit of the Sundance."

Why did you choose the Burnett Jacket for this event?

"The Burnett Jacket is a brand new part of our Outdoor Performance collection so it provides all the functionality needed to survive winter, but with a military-inspired and industrial style, it’s also a great street-wear piece. It features a soft-shell hood to offer a layered look and is insulated with white duck down for ultimate in warmth and protection. The official Sundance Film Festival customized jackets are white and feature the Sundance logo on one arm, fleece-lined hand warmer pockets, shoulder epaulettes with snap attachments to secure gloves, and heavy-duty, rib-knit cuffs to keep out the cold."
