A fireworks display follows each night of competition at Deer Valley this weekend.

This weekend, Deer Valley and Park City Mountain Resort are putting on a show featuring the world’s best skiers and riders, including Shaun White, a.k.a. The Flying Tomato. And what’s best is admission to all events is free.

Today through Saturday night, Deer Valley is hosting mogul and aerialist skiers from around the world for the FIS Freestyle World Cup. At the same time, Park City Mountain Resort is putting on the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix Snowboarding & Freeskiing Halfpipe and Paul Mitchell Progression Session Big Air competitions

Today’s main on-snow event is the Big Air Comp at Park City’s Three Kings Terrain Park from 3:30 to 5 p.m. But you may want to check out the Eagle Superpipe before then. Snowboarding superstar Shaun White threw his hat into the ring late last night and is riding in the Grand Prix halfpipe qualifier today from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The party moves to Park City’s Main Street for a free concert by Cold War Kids beginning at 7 p.m. A fireworks display immediately follows at about 9 p.m.

The competition goes into full swing on Friday and Saturday with the snowboarding halfpipe finals at Park City’s Eagle Superpipe on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (again, likely a good time to see The Flying Tomato in action), followed by aerials finals at Deer Valley’s White Owl run that evening from 6:45 to 8:p.m.

The men’s and women’s dual moguls competition at Deer Valley wraps up a full weekend of snow sports competition in Park City on Saturday evening.

On Saturday, the freeskier halfpipe finals are from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Park City. Deer Valley wraps up what is sure to be a killer weekend with dual mogul finals on the Champion Run at 6:30 p.m. In addition, Deer Valley is putting on a fireworks show following the comps on both Friday and Saturday nights.

Be advised to get to the venues early to stake out a spot on the sidelines. This is the 11th year Deer Valley’s hosted its annual World Cup soiree and people tend to come out by the thousands to watch. Same goes for Park City. Space is limited both at the 3 Kings Terrain Park and the Eagle Superpipe. Finding a place to leave your car will provide additional challenges. Your best bet is to park it and ride the free city-wide bus system.

Make an evening of it with dinner at Deer Valley’s Zagat-rated Seafood Buffet, located inside the Snowpark Lodge just steps away from the competition venues. For more information and reservations, visit deervalley.com.

Deer Valley is also offering Freestyle Feast VIP tickets for Moguls, Aerial and Dual Mogul competitions. These tickets give bearers special access to the on-hill events, a gourmet buffet and beverages in the VIP tent and a commemorative gift. Tickets are $100 per person, per event and can be purchased by calling 435-645-6510.
