I'll be the first to admit that I'm a bit of a cosmetic hoarder. I rarely leave the house without a few backup options for lipstick, and I get a little panicky if I don't at least have lip balm and lotion on hand at all times.

Becoming a mom put a whole new spin on things in the beauty department, and it's not because I let my regimen fall to the wayside. It's because I couldn't (and still can't) seem to find a diaper bag large enough to fit all the on-the-go items I need for both myself and my little guy.

Becoming a mom didn’t mean I traded in my moisturizer and mascara for diaper cream and baby oil; it just meant that I added new stuff to my ever-growing collection. Hunting down new baby care products has become just as fun as the quest for new things to add to my own collection.

So, for March’s picks of the month, I’ve thrown in a few of the tried-and-true for kids, but kept in mind that mom needs her own goods, too.

For Mom

Estee Lauder Nutritious 2-in-1 Foam Cleanser: You've gotta love a product that plays double duty. This cleanser can be used both a.m. and p.m. Leave it on for five minutes and it acts as a purifying mask. Available at Nordstrom. $25

Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution: Bid adieu to dark spots and acne scars. This product works to combat old marks as well as prevent future spots from popping up. Use it morning and night under your favorite moisturizer and watch it gradually work its magic. Available at Kiehl's. $49.50 - $76

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion: It's become one of my makeup bag staples, especially in the summer when it's so hot that even my eyelids sweat. Apply it as a foundation before your eyeshadow and you've got 24 hours of crease-free coverage. Choose from four different shades ranging from nude to soft pink. Available at Ulta. $20 each.

For Kids

Tangled Tantrum Detangling and Conditioning Spray: The paraben and alcohol free formula contains botanical extracts, pro-vitamin B5 and other goodies like amino acids, aloe and chamomile, so you won't have to worry about what it is that you're putting on you kid's hair to get those knots out. $14

Shea Moisture Organic Raw Shea Butter: Utah winters can be pretty rough on sensitive baby skin. I pair this product with the brand's bar soap and it not only works for moisturizing and treating baby's eczema, but leaves him smelling yummy. Available at Buy Buy Baby. $10

Yes to Baby Carrots Face and Nose Wipes: Regular baby wipes tend to dry out sensitive noses and faces. Save those for diapering and use these gentle, 100 percent natural and hypoallergenic wipes specially formulated for baby faces instead. Available at Target. $6
