One of the most remarkable things about Salt Lake's growing reputation is a culinary haven is the amount of expertise right here. When I wrote the cover article for this month's issue of Salt Lake magazine, I interviewed four of these experts–three Certified Cheese Experts (certified by examinations administered by the American Cheese Society) and a lifelong cheese aficionado. Since that time, one of those experts has left for California, but another has stepped into the forefront.

This Saturday, you will have the chance to meet these cheesemongers at an event presented by Salt Lake magazine with SLC Mixers at Grand America. Jamey Chelius from Caputo's on 15th, Steve Rosenberg from Liberty Heights Fresh, Andy Fitzgerrell from Whole Foods and Matt Caputo's from Caputo's will present their favorite cheeses on the patio at Grand America and be on hand to chat with guests about the cheeses they've brought. And any other cheese, for that matter. All these guys are true cheeseheads and fromage is their favorite subject. 

Along with the cheese, Grand America chef Tom Call will present cheesy and cheese-friendly hors d'oeuvres and Grand America pastry chef Jeffrey DeLeon will offer sweets. Guests can also enjoy a taste of the remarkable all-natural wines made here in Salt Lake by Evan Lewandowski, owner of Ruth Lewandowski Wines. Production of these unusual wines is extremely limited–although it's impressed everyone who has tried it and it's soon to be available in NYC.
