If you have a smartphone, then you've probably Instagrammed an impressive dish or two. You've also likely received an exasperated look from your dining partner as he or she waits for you to finish posing your food before eating.

With the James Beard Taste America Local Dish Challenge, you can Instagram your food guilt-free.

How the Local Dish Challenge works is you visit a participating restaurant and order the Taste America Local dish featured on the menu. One dollar of every featured dish sold will go towards the JBF Taste America Education Drive. When you get your featured dish, post a photo of it on Instagram with #JBFTasteAmerica and the hashtag of your city (#SaltLakeCity). The city with the most Instagram photo uploads by the end of Oct. 31 will win a donation from JBF of $10,000 or 10 percent of the proceeds raised nationally, whichever is higher, to a local food charity.

The Garden Café is currently participating in the challenge with over 100 other restaurants throughout the nation. Chef Thomas Call will feature Koosharem Steelhead trout with beets, roasted pine nut puree, and brown butter vinaigrette to showcase the best of their food scene in Salt Lake City. If you're a foodie wanting to show your local pride, stop by the Grand America Hotel by Oct. 31, and don't forget your smartphone.
