This weekend, starting at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 22 and 23 at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, Repertory Dance Theatre will showcase the lighter side of dance with their show Lively. Pulled from the history archives of dance choreography, with works dating back to 1967, choreographers Susan Hadley, Marina Harris, Joanie Smith, and Bill Evans created a show for the whole family.
“Sometimes modern dance is deep, but this show is more fun and is really good for all ages. Bill Evan's piece is from old movies, Harris' piece is just silly and playful, and there's isn't much to think about when enjoying it,” says Stephanie Perkins, marketing director for RDT.
In addition, there will be a young dancer hip hop performance during intermission with free milk and cookies provided by Trader Joe's.
With tickets for $10, RDT promises a lively and fun evening for all ages, while showcasing some really eye-popping performances from the theatre's talented dancers. It will be in preparation for their upcoming fundraiser Charette (Feb. 2014), where choreographers will have an hour to create a new dance to be voted on by celebrity judges and the audience. Sister Dotty will be the host.
