Capture the beauty of Southern Utah this spring with the Southern Utah Museum of Art.

Jon Smith, SUMA communications specialist, will lead a group of hikers on a filmmaking tour of Southern Utah. While traipsing through the White Rocks Trail in Snow Canyon State Park, participants will learn the basics of phone movie creation—not just how to shoot film, but how to capture Utah's natural landscape through video.

Using a smart phone, Smith will teach basic camera tricks, DSLR usage and on-location editing. Hikers will leave physically and artistically fulfilled, with their own micro-movie of the landscape. Participants are encouraged to bring a smart phone loaded with iMovie, but the equipment is not necessary to enjoy the hike.

While offering a unique experience, the museum hopes to drum up excitement for SUMA's 2016 debut.

The event is free, but sign-up is required (call 435-586-5432). Meet on the east side of Main Street Park in Cedar City on March 29 at 9 a.m.
